Google Chrome Week Day 4

18 May 2009 34 views No Comment

google-chromeMoving right along with day 4, I will be talking about the secrets or easter eggs of Google Chrome,  now it has been a good six months since Chrome came out and so most of the easter eggs are known.  However, not all websites cover every last one of them and so I want to consolidate all the easter eggs into one location.  Now we all know that easter eggs are little secrets designed by the programmers to be found.  Now most easter eggs are humorous or fun with quotes from movies, books and other stuff programmers find interesting or even put pictures of themselves within the software.  Of course, Google is known for all their jokes, pranks and easter eggs and Chrome is know different, mind you a few of those ideas came from Firefox and so lets begin the great easter egg hunt.

So the first set of easter eggs in Chrome all come from the usage of about: and typing that in the navbar and so here are the following easter eggs.

about:
about:memory
about:stats
about:network
about:internets
about:histograms
about:dns
about:cache
about:crash
about:plugins
about:version

Now lifehacker. com has posted some screen shots already, but instead of heading over there, power up Chrome and try them out.  However, one of the earlier known about pages about:internets doesn’t seem to be working anymore in 2.0.180.0.  So some of them might not work either, but if you have an older version of Chrome that one might work.

Well I guess I was a bit wrong on there being a lot of easter eggs for chrome, but I did found a few more although two of  them seem to not workable.

view-cache:stats
chrome-resource:/favicon/ - not working in 2.0.180.0
chrome-resource:/new-tab/ – not working in 2.0.180.0

Well thats about it for easter eggs as google results having pretty much run try of uncommon easter eggs for Google Chrome.
