Conficker Still Going At It

In my last post about the Conficker Worm, it was well on its way if pushing out a lot of spam and I believe I have gotten quite a few from that little guy.  Regardless if it came from Conficker or not I still deleted the emails and what not, however,  Conficker is still going pretty strong at 50,000 computers a day and it would seem that India, US, Brazil are topping the charts in infections and in the heat map below you can check what countries are the …

Five Best Malware Removal Tools, Or Are They Really?

On Sunday, Lifehacker.com publish a post about the 5 best Malware removal tools, which based on a post about what everyone’s favorite tool was.  Although I use Spybot and SuperAntiSpyware, I thought I would give the other programs a shot before giving my opinion about these programs.  Or this post would be just about Spybot and SuperAntiSpyware and on top of that I know my computer to be clean, for the most part, but like any computer user not all security tools are 100% at removing everything and so who …

Conficker: Infected Computers Pushing Out Spam

I had mentioned in a previous article about the spam being pushed out by the thousands thanks to its connection to the Waledac, well it would seem that Yahoo is a bit late in mentioning that news article or maybe not, depending on where you get your info from.  Either way,  I think the reason why this article was written, was that most “home” users don’t check out most computer magazine based websites and so this article can be considered a summary of whats been going on since April 1st.

Mac Computer Users: IBotnet On The Loose

Finally I get to talk about Mac and its security weakness, and yes the security of Mac computers are weak because of the fact Microsoft has always been targeted.  Thus, you do not see much security software for Apple computers in the store or hear about major security problems.

Conficker Attrition: The Cost To Fight This Worm

Today I a came across an interesting article that I know I have talk about and that being the cost of damages so far by this worm.  Of course, I would like to point out that this is world wide and not local because that be very stupid of the U.S especially in our time of recession.  Anyway the only problem about this article is that they don’t get into specifics of where the $9.1 billion is being spent but I would assume that is spread among software, man hours, …

Twitter Worm StalkDaily On The Loose

Its funny the moment I joined Twitter last week, Twitter gets slammed with their own worm, and the fool to advertise that he did it was 17-year old Michael “Mikeyy” Mooney.  The worm is called StalkDaily or Mikeyy and as for what this worm does is spam tweets in affected twitter accounts.  Luckily Mikeyy was smart enough to name brand himself on his worm and then fess up to it later that weekend.  As for the reason he did this, “I was bored.”

Conficker Spam Rate & Latest Conficker Victim: Utah University

In the latest of weekend news about Conficker, 700 computers in the Utah University Campus got hit with this worm which includes hospitals, medical school, and colleges of nursing, pharmacy and health.  Of course, within that large network comes a lot of personal data including, medical records, credit card numbers, computer log on and other private and personal data.  Luckily, the hospital  records are secured and in what way, only they know which is a good thing.

Conficker Updates: Version E & Scareware & Self Destruct

Some new developments have shown up for the Conficker worm and some of them are quite interesting.  It has been a week since Version D went online and that it cross references about 50,000 domains a day, can be updated through P2P software and the payload has yet to come.

Conficker Eye Test

It has been six days now since the big Conficker scare of 2009, and although nothing big happen except for the update of the 50,000 domains it uses.  However, a interesting article on PCWorld.com in which this one website was created to give a little Conficker eye exam to see if your computer is infected.  Now the premise of this “eye exam” is that if you can’t load any of the images or just one of them images your infected.

New Name For Conficker: Dud

Well that is what Ian Paul is saying on yahoo, after Conficker no showed on April 1st, and so far Conficker hasn’t releashed any wrath on the possible 3-15 million infected computers, although the that number is based on infected IP addresses and not actual computers.  So the question this article is aying should we still fear Conficker?
